Our Montessori Approach
At Little Acorns, we embrace the Montessori method as a child-centred approach to education that honours the unique individuality of each child. Founded by Dr. Maria Montessori, this philosophy is grounded in the belief that every child is capable of learning and growing in their own way, at their own pace, without being bound by conventional educational restrictions.
The essence of the Montessori method is to provide an environment that supports independence, exploration, and self-directed learning. Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning by choosing activities that engage their curiosity and build their confidence. In a Montessori classroom, children control the pace, repetition, and direction of their lessons, allowing them to learn through discovery rather than rote memorization.

The Montessori approach fosters a joyful love of learning, promoting the development of skills, confidence, and a sense of achievement. Encouragement, rather than criticism, motivates children to continue exploring new concepts, reinforcing their natural ability to learn and grow. This sense of accomplishment nurtures children into well-adjusted individuals, with the tools to approach life with a sense of purpose and direction.
In our Montessori classrooms, everything is designed with the child in mind. There are no teacher’s desks; instead, the classroom is filled with specially chosen materials that are accessible to children, allowing them to explore, experiment, and engage in hands-on learning. Each element of the environment encourages children to actively participate in their own learning journey, building their autonomy and reinforcing the idea that learning is a lifelong adventure.

Our goal is to provide a stimulating, enriching environment where children feel free to explore, discover, and master new concepts in their own time.
By nurturing their natural curiosity and supporting their individual growth, we help foster a love for learning that will last a lifetime.
